A nice drive through Oregon

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of going to Southern Oregon to housesit for a friend. They offered to fly me down, but I will always choose driving whenever I can.
You don’t get to see the mountains suddenly appearing in front of you when you are up in an air plane. It would be bad if you did.
I took a few cameras with me and then only used one, OM Mark 5ii. I’m still learning this camera. This year has been a bit weird with photography because each time I pick up a camera, I’ve totally forgotten how to use it. I can’t remember what settings to use or what film is in it if it’s a film camera. This is just a clear signal that I haven’t been getting out with my cameras enough.
I drove a long the Columbia River and then turned south. I chose to avoid Portland and drive through Bend. I’m so glad I did. The drive was amazing. After leaving Bend, I took the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway. Beautiful drive. I didn’t stop at all the little lakes along that route. It is definitely an area I would like to visit again and do some camping.
A long the Rogue River there were places to stop and camp that I want to go to. I didn’t have time to see all the things. Again a beautiful drive.
While at my friend’s house there was a heat wave and the temps shot up to the 90s. I don’t do well in the heat so I ended up cutting my plans to do any exploring.
I did visit Golden Historical Site because it was so near where I was staying.

It was a good trip. I do want to revisit this part of Oregon when I have more time and can be focused on photography and seeing as much as I can.
I visited Crater Lake National Park for the first time. Since it was so early in the summer there wasn’t a ton of other visitors.

Overall it was a long but wonderful drive that I look forward to doing again. Next time I’ll take my husband so he can drive and I can look at all the scenery.
